• PAI-2 functions as a potent inhibitor of urokinase-type plasminogen activator (uPA), thereby modulating plasminogen activation and extracellular matrix remodeling.
• Distinct from PAI-1 (endothelial cell-derived), PAI-2 is the monocyte- and placental-derived serpin with unique regulatory roles in inflammation and fibrinolysis.
