- CHD1 (Chromodomain-helicase-DNA-binding protein 1) is an ATP-dependent chromatin remodeler belonging to the SNF2 family, with alternative splicing generating multiple isoforms.
- Functions as the substrate recognition component of the SAGA complex, regulating RNA polymerase II transcription, and is required for efficient RNA polymerase I transcription termination.

- Negatively regulates DNA replication and maintains specific chromatin configurations across the genome; also associates with histone deacetylase (HDAC) activity.
