  • CHD1 is an ATP-dependent chromatin-remodeling factor that acts as a substrate recognition component of the SAGA histone acetyltransferase complex, regulating RNA polymerase II transcription.
  • It is also required for efficient transcription by RNA polymerase I, specifically the transcription termination step, and negatively regulates DNA replication.
  • CHD1 helps maintain a specific chromatin configuration across the genome and is associated with histone deacetylase (HDAC) activity.
