Biological Background: ENPP2 Function and Localization

  • ENPP2, also known as Autotaxin, is an ectonucleotide pyrophosphatase/phosphodiesterase family member 2 (E-NPP 2) with lysophospholipase D activity.

  • ENPP2 can also act on sphingosylphosphorylcholine to generate sphingosine-1-phosphate, modulating cell migration. Related references: PMID:14500380
