- ADIPOR2 (Adiponectin receptor protein 2, also known as PAQR2 or progestin and adipoQ receptor family member 2) is a member of the progestin and adipoQ receptor (PAQR) family.
- It functions as a receptor for ADIPOQ (adiponectin), a key hormone in regulating glucose and lipid metabolism. ADIPOQ binding triggers a cascade that enhances PPARA activity, promoting fatty acid oxidation and glucose uptake. Related references: PMID:12802337, PMID:25855295
- Plays a critical role in maintaining normal body fat and glucose homeostasis; required for proper revascularization after chronic ischemia.
- Localized to the cell membrane as a multi-pass transmembrane protein with a zinc-binding site.
