D-Dimer
Target Introduction
D-Dimer is a protein fragment produced when a blood clot dissolves in the body. It's a fibrin degradation product (or fibrin split product), resulting from the breakdown of fibrin by the enzyme plasmin. Normally, D-dimer levels are very low or undetectable unless there is significant blood clot formation and breakdown occurring.
Relationship with Related Diseases
An elevated D-dimer level in the blood can indicate the presence of a blood clotting condition. D-dimer tests are commonly used to help diagnose or rule out the following conditions:
- Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT): A blood clot in a deep vein, often in the leg.
- Pulmonary Embolism (PE): A blood clot that travels to the lungs, often originating from a DVT.
- Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation (DIC): A condition causing widespread blood clotting throughout the body, leading to organ damage. D-dimer tests can also be used to monitor DIC treatment effectiveness.
- Stroke: Occurs when a blood vessel in the brain is blocked or bursts.
It's important to note that a positive D-dimer test doesn't confirm a specific clotting condition. Further testing is needed to determine the exact cause and location of the clot.
Application
D-dimer tests are primarily used in vitro diagnostic (IVD) assays to detect and quantify D-dimer levels in blood samples. These assays are commonly used in emergency departments and clinical laboratories to aid in the diagnosis and management of thromboembolic disorders.
Monoclonal antibodies against D-dimer are used in the development of D-dimer assays, such as immunoturbidimetric (IT) assays and fluorescence immunoassays (FIA). These antibodies provide the specificity and sensitivity required to accurately measure D-dimer concentrations in patient samples.
Technology Transfer
Technology transfer and customization
For research institutions and growing enterprises, especially those in the early stages of development, we offer a comprehensive suite of mature and stable production process technology transfer, along with relevant process documentation.
Additionally, we can tailor transformation production processes to align with diverse customer requirements and market needs.
