About CRP

C-reactive protein (CRP) is a protein that is produced by the liver in response to inflammation. CRP levels are elevated in a variety of conditions, including:

  • Infection: CRP is a marker of inflammation, and it is often elevated in people with infections, such as pneumonia, sepsis, and arthritis.
  • Autoimmune diseases: CRP is also elevated in people with autoimmune diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis and lupus.
  • Chronic diseases: CRP is also elevated in people with chronic diseases, such as heart disease, stroke, and cancer.
  • High levels of CRP are associated with an increased risk of developing a number of health problems, including:
  • Heart disease: High levels of CRP are associated with an increased risk of developing heart disease, such as heart attack and stroke.
  • Stroke: High levels of CRP are associated with an increased risk of developing stroke.
  • Cancer: High levels of CRP are associated with an increased risk of developing cancer, such as colon cancer and breast cancer. CRP monoclonal antibodies are antibodies that target CRP. CRP monoclonal antibodies can be used to detect CRP levels in blood or serum samples.

CRP monoclonal antibodies are typically constructed using recombinant DNA technology. The CRP gene is inserted into a host cell, such as a bacterium or yeast cell. The host cell is then cultured to produce large quantities of CRP. The CRP is then purified and used to create the monoclonal antibody.

CRP monoclonal antibodies can be used to detect CRP levels in blood or serum samples. This can be used to diagnose and monitor a variety of conditions, including infection, autoimmune diseases, and chronic diseases.

CRP monoclonal antibodies are a promising new tool for the diagnosis and monitoring of a variety of conditions, including infection, autoimmune diseases, and chronic diseases. With further research, CRP monoclonal antibodies are likely to become more widely used in these applications.
