  • It functions as a pyrimidine-specific endonuclease with a slight preference for uridine, and exhibits a variety of biological activities including cytotoxicity, helminthotoxicity, and selective chemotaxis for dendritic cells.
  • The protein contains a signal peptide and is a glycoprotein with disulfide bonds; it is subject to nitration, which may modulate its activity.
  • Subcellular localization includes lysosomes and cytoplasmic granules, consistent with its roles in degradation and immune cell effector functions.
  • Tissue expression is found in liver, lung, spleen, leukocytes, and body fluids, indicating broad distribution and potential roles in both tissue remodeling and host defense.
