Biological Background: VCP Function and Localization

• VCP (Transitional endoplasmic reticulum ATPase) is a highly conserved ATPase essential for Golgi stack fragmentation and reassembly during mitosis, and for transitional ER formation facilitating membrane transfer to the Golgi.
