- SPRED1 (Sprouty-related, EVH1 domain-containing protein 1) is a tyrosine kinase substrate that negatively regulates growth factor-mediated MAP kinase activation.
- It inhibits fibroblast growth factor (FGF)-induced retinal lens fiber differentiation by suppressing ERK1/2 phosphorylation.
- SPRED1 negatively regulates hematopoiesis of bone marrow and inhibits TGFB-induced epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition in lens epithelial cells.

- Subcellularly, SPRED1 localizes to the cell membrane, caveolae, and nucleus.
