Biological Background: Interleukin-22 Function and Localization

• Interleukin-22 (IL-22), also known as IL-10-related T-cell-derived-inducible factor (IL-TIF) or IL-TIF alpha, is a cytokine member of the IL-10 family.

• Unlike most cytokines, IL-22 has no direct effect on immune cells.
