  • Interleukin-6 receptor subunit beta (IL6ST), also called gp130, CD130, or membrane glycoprotein 130, serves as the common signal-transducing receptor for the IL-6 cytokine family.
  • Upon ligand binding, gp130 undergoes homodimerization (e.g., with IL-6/IL-11) or heterodimerization with LIFR/OSMR, leading to activation of associated JAK kinases, receptor phosphorylation, and recruitment/activation of STAT transcription factors.
