- ILT5/CD85a, encoded by the LILRB3 gene, is also known as leukocyte immunoglobulin-like receptor subfamily B member 3, CD85 antigen-like family member A, immunoglobulin-like transcript 5 (ILT-5), and monocyte inhibitory receptor HL9.
- It may function as a receptor for class I MHC antigens and becomes activated upon co-ligation with immune receptors such as FCGR2B and the B-cell receptor.
- Activated LILRB3 down-regulates antigen-induced B-cell activation by recruiting phosphatases to its immunoreceptor tyrosine-based inhibitor motifs (ITIMs).
