Biological Background: CD85d/ILT4 Function and Localization

  • Receptor for class I MHC antigens; recognizes a broad spectrum of HLA-A, HLA-B, HLA-C, HLA-G and HLA-F alleles. Related references: PMID:11169396, PMID:12853576, PMID:16455647
  • Functions as an inhibitory receptor involved in the down-regulation of immune responses and the development of tolerance.
  • Recognizes HLA-G in complex with B2M, triggering differentiation of type 1 regulatory T cells and myeloid-derived suppressor cells, thereby maintaining maternal-fetal tolerance. Related references: PMID:16455647, PMID:20448110, PMID:27859042
  • Competes with CD8A for MHC-I binding and inhibits FCGR1A-mediated phosphorylation and calcium mobilization. Related references: PMID:11875462, PMID:12853576, PMID:9548455
