Biological Background: CD48 Function and Localization

• CD48, also known as BLAST-1, SLAMF2, and MEM-102, is a glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-anchored cell surface glycoprotein encoded by the CD48 gene. It belongs to the SLAM family of receptors.
