Biological Background: CDC42 Function and Localization
- CDC42 (Cell division control protein 42 homolog), also known as G25K GTP-binding protein, is a small GTPase of the Rho family that cycles between an active GTP-bound and inactive GDP-bound state.

- In neurons, CDC42 is required for the formation and maintenance of filopodia, thin actin-rich surface projections, and modulates dendritic spine structural plasticity upon CaMKII activation (By similarity). Related references: PMID:14978216
- It localizes to the cell membrane, cytoplasm, cytoskeleton (including microtubule-organizing center, spindle, midbody), cell projections (dendrites), and secretory vesicles such as the acrosome.
