Biological Background: STING Function and Localization

• STING (stimulator of interferon genes, also known as TMEM173/ERIS/MITA) is a facilitator of innate immune signaling that senses cytosolic DNA from bacteria and viruses and promotes the production of type I interferons (IFN-α and IFN-β).
