- Ribosomal protein S6 kinase alpha-5 (RPS6KA5), also known as MSK1, is a serine/threonine-protein kinase belonging to the RSK family, existing in multiple isoforms due to alternative splicing.
- It is required for the mitogen- or stress-induced phosphorylation of transcription factors CREB1 and ATF1, thereby regulating immediate-early gene expression in response to stimuli such as EGF and UV irradiation.
