Biological Background: CEBPB Function and Localization

• CEBPB (C/EBP-beta, NF-IL6, TCF-5) is a member of the CCAAT/enhancer-binding protein transcription factor family and functions as a critical regulator of immune and inflammatory responses, adipogenesis, liver regeneration, and hematopoiesis. • The protein binds to the consensus DNA motif 5'-T[TG]NNGNAA[TG]-3' and regulates the transcription of acute-phase and cytokine genes, playing a central role in the inflammatory response and intracellular bacteria killing.
