- Proline-rich AKT1 substrate 1 (AKT1S1), also commonly referred to as PRAS40 (40 kDa proline-rich AKT substrate), is encoded by the AKT1S1 gene in humans.
- AKT1S1 acts as a key negative regulator of the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1), a central nutrient sensor that promotes cell growth and biomass accumulation. - For western blotting (WB), a protein band of approximately 27 kDa is expected based on the calculated molecular weight of AKT1S1.
- When performing ELISA, appropriate peptide blocking and phosphorylated/non-phosphorylated peptide controls may help confirm specificity for the T246-phosphorylated form.
