- CD23, also known as Fc-epsilon-RII or lymphocyte IgE receptor, is a low-affinity receptor for immunoglobulin E (IgE) encoded by the Fcer2 (Fcer2a) gene in mice. Alternative splicing generates isoforms, including membrane-bound and secreted forms.
- It plays an essential role in regulating IgE production and B cell differentiation. On B cells, CD23 initiates IgE-dependent antigen uptake and presentation to T cells, influencing humoral immune responses.
