Biological Background: CEACAM1 Function and Localization

• CEACAM1 (Carcinoembryonic antigen-related cell adhesion molecule 1), also known as Biliary glycoprotein 1 (BGP-1) or CD66a, is a member of the carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) family and plays diverse roles in cell adhesion, immune regulation, and metabolism.
• Mediates calcium-independent homophilic cell adhesion, contributing to tissue architecture and cell-cell interactions.
