Biological Background: Semaphorin-4D Function and Localization
- Semaphorin-4D (CD100) is a transmembrane glycoprotein belonging to the semaphorin family; it exists also as a secreted form generated by proteolytic cleavage.
- Located on the cell membrane and secreted into the extracellular space.
- Strongly expressed in skeletal muscle, peripheral blood lymphocytes, spleen, and thymus; lower expression in brain, kidney, testis, and other tissues.
