Biological Background: NR5A2 Function and Localization

  • NR5A2 (also known as LRH-1, B1F, CPF, FTF) is an orphan nuclear receptor that binds DNA as a monomer to the 5'-TCAAGGCCA-3' sequence and regulates transcription of target genes involved in development, metabolism, and inflammation.   • Acts as a pioneer transcription factor, unwrapping target DNA from histones and eliciting local opening of closed chromatin, essential for early embryonic development. Related references: PMID:38409506
