Biological Background: NLRP3 Function and Localization

• NLRP3 (NACHT, LRR and PYD domains-containing protein 3, also known as cryopyrin) is an intracellular sensor that forms the core component of the NLRP3 inflammasome, which mediates activation in response to membrane integrity defects, leading to secretion of IL1B and IL18 and pyroptosis.
