- LIM domain-containing protein 1 (LIMD1) is an adapter/scaffold protein that assembles complexes regulating cell fate, cytoskeletal organization, transcriptional repression, adhesion, differentiation, proliferation, and migration.
- Part of the LIM protein family; contains LIM domains which are zinc-binding motifs.
- Positively regulates microRNA-mediated gene silencing and is essential for processing body (P-body) formation and integrity.
- Acts as a hypoxic regulator by bridging prolyl hydroxylases and VHL to promote HIF1A degradation.
- Functions as a transcriptional corepressor for SNAI1/SNAI2-dependent repression of E-cadherin and inhibits E2F-mediated transcription.
- Negatively regulates the Hippo signaling pathway and antagonizes YAP1 phosphorylation; may act as a tumor suppressor by inhibiting cell proliferation.
- Localizes to cytoplasm, nucleus, P-bodies, adherens junctions, and focal adhesions.
