- Dual specificity mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase 1 (MAP2K1), also known as MEK1 or MAPKK1, is a key component of the MAPK/ERK signaling cascade.
- It is activated by RAF kinases downstream of RAS, and subsequently phosphorylates both threonine and tyrosine residues in the Thr-Glu-Tyr motif of ERK1 and ERK2, leading to their activation.
