Biological Background: Gasdermin E Function and Localization

  • Gasdermin E (GSDME), also known as DFNA5 or ICERE-1, is a member of the gasdermin family of pore-forming proteins. It is expressed as a precursor that is cleaved to release an active N-terminal fragment, with multiple isoforms produced by alternative splicing.
