- LRRC59, also known as ribosome-binding protein p34 or PRO1855, is a leucine-rich repeat-containing protein encoded by the LRRC59 gene.
- It functions in the nuclear import of fibroblast growth factor 1 (FGF1), but not FGF2, possibly by promoting interaction with nuclear import machinery and facilitating transport to/through nuclear pores.
- The protein is localized to the microsome membrane, endoplasmic reticulum membrane, and nuclear envelope.
- It is widely expressed across tissues.
- Post-translational modifications include acetylation and phosphorylation, and it contains a signal-anchor, transmembrane helix, and coiled-coil domain.
