Biological Background: GIT1 Function and Localization
- GIT1 (ARF GTPase-activating protein GIT1), also known as p95-APP1 and CAT1, is a multidomain scaffold protein that participates in receptor internalization, focal adhesion remodeling, and signaling by G protein-coupled receptors and tyrosine kinase receptors.
- Through PAK1 activation, GIT1 positively regulates microtubule nucleation during interphase, and plays a role in cytokinesis via a pathway involving ENTR1 and PTPN13.
