- Alpha-catenin (catenin alpha-1, Alpha E-catenin, CTNNA1) is a cadherin-associated protein that links cadherins to the actin cytoskeleton at adherens junctions, playing a critical role in cell-cell adhesion. Related references: PMID:40983751
- The homodimeric form of α-catenin regulates actin filament assembly and inhibits actin branching by competing with the Arp2/3 complex for binding to actin filaments.
