Biological Background: KHDRBS1/Sam68 Function and Localization

• KHDRBS1, also known as p62, p68, or Sam68 (Src-associated in mitosis 68 kDa protein), is a KH domain-containing RNA-binding protein that functions as a signal transduction adapter.
• Upon tyrosine phosphorylation by receptors such as T-cell, leptin, and insulin receptors, KHDRBS1 binds SH2 and SH3 domain-containing proteins to propagate downstream signaling.
