Biological Background: Pin1 (Peptidyl-prolyl cis-trans isomerase NIMA-interacting 1) Function and Localization

- Regulates mitosis by interacting with NIMA and attenuating its activity; down-regulates kinase activity of BTK. Related references: PMID:16644721

- For Western blot, a band around 18 kDa is expected. Validate specificity using Pin1 knockdown (KD) samples or peptide competition.
- For ELISA, optimize coating conditions and pair with a suitable detection antibody; cross-reactivity with Pin1 from mouse and rat allows multi-species assays.
- Since Pin1 is phosphorylated at Ser-71 in normal tissues, confirm detection in relevant sample systems.
