Biological Background: eIF5A Function and Localization

• eIF5A (Eukaryotic translation initiation factor 5A-1) is a highly conserved translation factor that promotes elongation and termination, rescuing ribosomes stalled on polyproline or other motifs. Related references: PMID:33547280
• It binds between the E and P sites of the ribosome, facilitating peptidyl transfer during the CAT tailing step as a ribosome quality control (RQC) cofactor.
