Biological Background: DUSP12 Function and Localization

• DUSP12, also designated dual specificity tyrosine phosphatase YVH1, is a member of the dual specificity phosphatase family.
• The protein exhibits phosphatase activity toward both phosphotyrosine and phosphoserine/phosphothreonine residues. It has been shown to dephosphorylate glucokinase in vitro and acts on the synthetic substrate 6,8-difluoro-4-methylumbelliferyl phosphate (PubMed:10446167, PubMed:24531476). • DUSP12 localizes to both the nucleus and the cytoplasm, predominantly in the cytosol.
