• Killer cell lectin-like receptor subfamily G member 1 (KLRG1), also known as mast cell function-associated antigen (MAFA) or 2F1 antigen, is encoded by the Klrg1 gene in mice.
• It plays an inhibitory role on natural killer (NK) cells and T-cell functions by binding to classical cadherins (E-cadherin/CDH1, N-cadherin/CDH2, R-cadherin/CDH4), potentially mediating missing-self recognition.
• KLRG1 is a transmembrane glycoprotein located on the cell membrane.
