  • ICAM-1, also known as CD54, is a single-pass type I transmembrane glycoprotein belonging to the immunoglobulin superfamily.
  • It mediates cell adhesion by serving as a receptor for integrins LFA-1 (ITGAL:ITGB2) and Mac-1 (ITGAM:ITGB2), essential for leukocyte-endothelial interactions, neutrophil adhesion, and calibrating T-cell killing strength.
