Biological Background: ZNF264 Function and Localization
- Zinc finger protein 264 (ZNF264) is a member of the C2H2-type zinc-finger protein family, characterized by multiple zinc-finger domains that facilitate sequence-specific DNA binding.
- ZNF264 is predicted to act as a transcriptional regulator, although its direct target genes and regulatory mechanisms remain to be fully elucidated.
- Consistent with its nuclear role, ZNF264 localizes primarily to the nucleus, where it may participate in transcriptional complexes.
- Post-translational modifications of ZNF264, including phosphorylation and ubiquitination, may modulate its stability, activity, or subcellular distribution.
- At the mRNA level, ZNF264 is expressed in a wide range of tissues, with relatively higher abundance in kidney, thymus, testis, ovary, brain, lung, placenta, and prostate, and lower expression in heart, liver, skeletal muscle, pancreas, spleen, and small intestine.
Experimental Guidance and Technical Tips
- The immunogen corresponds to a region (aa 100–200) of human ZNF264. For Western blotting, this polyclonal antibody is expected to detect a band at approximately 71 kDa; however, actual migration may vary depending on sample preparation and gel conditions.
- For ELISA applications, consider using this antibody as a capture or detection reagent in a sandwich format, and pair with an appropriate secondary antibody.
- To confirm antibody specificity, it is advisable to perform control experiments such as peptide blocking, siRNA knockdown, or analysis of cell lines with known ZNF264 expression patterns.
- The antibody has been tested on human samples; for other species, cross-reactivity is not guaranteed and should be independently validated.
