  • Vitronectin is a multifunctional glycoprotein that promotes cell adhesion and spreading by interacting with integrins, glycosaminoglycans, and proteoglycans.
  • It acts as an inhibitor of the terminal cytolytic complement pathway, preventing membrane damage.
  • The N-terminal somatomedin-B domain exhibits growth hormone-dependent protease-inhibiting activity.
  • Vitronectin is secreted into the extracellular space and has been detected within parasitophorous vacuoles under certain conditions.
