  • Vimentin is a class-III intermediate filament protein encoded by the VIM gene, widely expressed in mesenchymal cells and certain other non-epithelial cell types.

  • For Western blot, a band around 54 kDa is expected; consider using whole cell lysates from fibroblasts or mesenchymal cell lines as positive controls.
  • In IHC-P, optimize antigen retrieval and antibody dilution; cross-reactivity with mouse and rat makes it suitable for comparative tissue studies.
