  • It is a component of the small subunit (SSU) processome, which is the first precursor of the small eukaryotic ribosomal subunit.
  • Involved in nucleolar processing of pre-18S ribosomal RNA, playing a critical role in ribosome biogenesis.
  • Functions within the nucleolus to facilitate RNA folding, modifications, rearrangements, cleavage, and targeted degradation of pre-ribosomal RNA by the RNA exosome.
