Biological Background: UFL1 Function and Localization

  • UFL1 functions as an E3 protein ligase that mediates ufmylation—the covalent attachment of the ubiquitin-like modifier UFM1 to lysine residues on target proteins—playing key roles in ribosome recycling, DNA damage response, interferon signaling, and reticulophagy (ER-phagy).
