- Tryptophanyl-tRNA synthetase 1 (WARS1; also known as TrpRS, IFP53, IFI53) is a member of the class-I aminoacyl-tRNA synthetase family and is essential for charging tRNA(Trp) with tryptophan.
- The canonical full-length enzyme localizes to the cytoplasm and catalyzes the two-step aminoacylation reaction: tryptophan activation by ATP followed by transfer to tRNA(Trp), a fundamental process in translation.
