Biological Background: TRPM1 Function and Localization
- TRPM1, also known as Melastatin-1 or Long transient receptor potential channel 1 (LTrpC1), encodes a constitutively active nonselective cation channel that mediates the influx of divalent cations including Ca²⁺, Mg²⁺, Mn²⁺, Ba²⁺, and Ni²⁺, thereby promoting membrane depolarization.
