- Tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily member 13C (TNFRSF13C) is also known as BAFF receptor (BAFF-R), CD268, or BLyS receptor 3.
- Acts as a B-cell-specific receptor for the cytokine TNFSF13B/BAFF/BLyS, promoting survival of mature B-cells and the B-cell response.
- Localized to the cell membrane via a signal-anchor, with a transmembrane helix and disulfide bond-containing extracellular domain.
- Highly expressed in secondary lymphoid organs (spleen, lymph node) and resting B-cells; lower expression in activated B-cells, CD4+ T-cells, thymus, and peripheral blood leukocytes.
- Alternative splicing generates multiple isoforms; mutations in TNFRSF13C are linked to common variable immunodeficiency (CVID4).
