Biological Background: TNFAIP8L2 Function and Localization

  • TNFAIP8L2 (Tumor necrosis factor alpha-induced protein 8-like protein 2, also known as TIPE2 or Inflammation factor protein 20) is a member of the TNFAIP8 family and is characterized as a phosphoprotein with ubiquitin-like conjugation (Ubl conjugation) potential.
  • Acts as a negative regulator of innate and adaptive immunity by maintaining immune homeostasis. Related references: PMID:27043859
  • Modulates the Toll-like receptor (TLR) signaling pathway, determining the strength of lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced signaling and gene expression. Related references: PMID:32188758
  • Inhibits T-cell receptor (TCR)-mediated T-cell activation, thereby negatively regulating T-cell function to prevent hyperresponsiveness (By similarity).
