• TM7SF2 (Transmembrane 7 superfamily member 2) is also known as Delta(14)-sterol reductase, ANG1, C14SR, NET47, and DHCR14A. It belongs to the sterol reductase family.
• It catalyzes the reduction of the C14-unsaturated bond of lanosterol, a critical step in the cholesterol biosynthesis pathway.
• TM7SF2 is a multi-pass membrane protein localized primarily to the endoplasmic reticulum membrane and microsome membrane.
• The gene exhibits alternative splicing, yielding multiple transcript variants; the canonical isoform has a predicted molecular weight of approximately 46 kDa.
