- TLE1 (Transducin-like enhancer protein 1), also known as ESG1 or GRG1, is a member of the TLE/Groucho family of transcriptional corepressors.
- Functions as a transcriptional corepressor by interacting with various transcription factors, including NF-kappa-B, FOXA2, and the CTNNB1/TCF complex in Wnt signaling, thereby inhibiting target gene expression.
- Enhances transcriptional repression mediated by FOXG1/BF-1 and HES1, and can also act as a coactivator for ESRRG, indicating a context-dependent regulatory role.
- Localizes predominantly to the nucleus, consistent with its role in transcriptional regulation.
- Expressed ubiquitously across human tissues, with higher expression levels observed in brain, liver, and muscle.
