Biological Background: TIMP3 Function and Localization

• TIMP3 is a member of the tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinases (TIMP) family, playing a critical role in extracellular matrix (ECM) regulation and turnover.
• It reversibly inhibits a broad spectrum of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), including MMP-1, MMP-2, MMP-3, MMP-7, MMP-9, MMP-13, MMP-14, and MMP-15, thereby modulating ECM remodeling.
