- TBL1XR1 (Transducin beta-like 1X-related protein 1) is an F-box-like/WD repeat-containing protein, also known as TBLR1 or nuclear receptor corepressor/HDAC3 complex subunit TBLR1.
- It plays an essential role in transcription activation mediated by nuclear receptors by functioning as an integral component of the N-Cor corepressor complex.
- TBL1XR1 mediates the recruitment of the ubiquitin/19S proteasome complex to nuclear receptor-regulated transcription units, leading to proteasomal degradation of the N-Cor complex and allowing cofactor exchange.
- The protein contains multiple WD repeat domains, which are involved in protein-protein interactions, and is classified as a chromatin regulator, activator, and repressor.
- TBL1XR1 localizes to the nucleus and is widely expressed in tissues such as pituitary, hypothalamus, white and brown adipose tissue, muscle, and liver.
